Antimony trioxide

Packaging: The product is packaged in double-layer bags—outer bags made of paper-plastic composites, and inner bags crafted from polyethylene film. Each bag has a net weight of 25.0 kg and is palletized into one-ton pallets. Alternatively, high-strength ton bags can also be used for one-ton-per-pallet packaging, with options available to meet specific customer requirements.

Property:

Antimony trioxide (English name: Antimony trioxide) is a pure white, ultrafine powder with a cubic crystal structure, and it is the most stable compound of antimony. Its molecular weight is 291.5, melting point is 656°C, and its density in the stable cubic form is 5.3 g/cm³. Also known as antimony white, antimony trioxide is an amphoteric oxide—it is insoluble in water, ethanol, dilute sulfuric acid, and dilute nitric acid—but it readily dissolves in concentrated hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, strong alkalis, and tartaric acid solutions.

Usage:

⑴ Antimony trioxide is widely used as a synergistic flame retardant in plastic products such as polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ABS resin, polyester, polyurethane foam, epoxy resin, and phenolic resin, as well as in synthetic fibers like polypropylene and polyester. When added in specific proportions to flammable polymer materials alongside halogen-based flame retardants, antimony trioxide significantly boosts the material’s oxygen index (OI), enhancing its flame-retardant performance while maintaining excellent cost-effectiveness. It is thus regarded as the most important inorganic synergist for improving the flame-retardant properties of polymers.

⑵ Used as a rubber filler, a passivating agent in the petrochemical industry, a clarifying agent in glass manufacturing, a coloring agent in ceramics and enamel industries, for fabricating optoelectronic components, as a solid lubricant material, in antifouling coatings for ships, and in pharmaceutical applications, among other uses.
